Thurman Harvill, 64, of Jasper
Thurman Wayne Harvill,
63, of Nauvoo, died Tuesday, July 22, 2008, at his residence. Funeral services
will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 26, at Collins-Burke Funeral Home with burial
in Liberty Grove Cemetery. Learon West will officiate. Visitation will be from 6
until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Collins-Burke Funeral Home will direct.
He is survived by his brothers, John Harvill, Barney Harvill, Roy Harvill and
Troy Harvill.

Luther J. Glover, 85, a longtime resident of Sumiton
Luther J. Glover, 85, a longtime resident of Sumiton, died Tuesday, July 22,
2008, at Meadowood Health Care. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, July
25, at New Horizon Memorial Funeral Home with burial in New Horizon Memorial
Gardens. Rev. Doug Tate will officiate. Visitation will be from 9 until 11 a.m.
Friday at the funeral home. New Horizon Memorial Funeral Home will direct.
He was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Sumiton, a retired cook for the V.A.
Medical Center and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Estelle Glover; and son, Jerry Glover.
He is survived by his son, Steve Glover and his wife, Gail, of Minor; grandson,
Stephen C. Glover and his wife, Yolanda, of Montgomery; stepgrandsons, Bill
Johnson of Trussville and Bart Johnson and his wife, Dana, of Kimberly;
great-grandchildren, Tyler, Dylan, Natalie and Jake; several nieces and nephews;
and a host of friends.

Daniel W. Smith Jr., age 64
Daniel W. Smith Jr., age 64 and a resident of Hammond, La., passed away on
Tuesday, July 22, 2008, at Lakeview Regional Medical Center. He entered the U.S.
Army in 1964 and proudly served our country during the Vietnam War, having
received numerous honors and medals. He retired after 20 years of active duty
with the rank of chief warrant officer. After his military career, he enjoyed
traveling to visit family and friends, volunteering his time as a missionary and
prison chaplain, and cheering for his LSU Tigers.
Dan leaves behind his wife of 37 years, B.J. Smith of Hammond; daughter, Tanya
Marie Smith of Jackson, Miss.; son, Major Daniel W. Smith III and his wife, Amy,
of Niceville, Fla.; four grandchildren, Stephen Daniel, Kendall Jane, Tatum
Cullen and Hunter Charles Smith. He is also survived by a sister, Margaret Jean
Smith of Humble, Texas; brother, Clifford Thomas Smith and his wife, Kathy, of
North Richland Hills, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family
members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel Sr. and Mary Cullen Smith.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services
at Trinity Baptist Church, in Pumpkin Center, on Friday, July 25, at 11 a.m.
with visitation beginning at the church at 10 a.m. The family requests that
visiting hours also be observed from the chapel of Brandon G. Thompson Funeral
Home on Thursday, July 24, 2008, from 6 until 9 p.m. Rev. Randy Davis will
conduct the funeral services and interment with full military honors will follow
in Trinity Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family requests memorial donations may be made to the Trinity Baptist Church
Building Fund and sent to 42062 Pumpkin Center Rd., Hammond, La. 70403.

She is survived by her special friend, Debra Darlene Willcutt of Parrish;
daughter, Monica Richardson (Billy Jo) of Jasper; sons, Nathan Lee Richardson
and Nicholas Richardson, both of Jasper; mother, Mary Voorhis of Colona, Ill.;
father, Henry Voorhis of Colona, Ill.; brothers, Steven Green of Pryor, Okla.,
Chris Voorhis (Kim) and Jim Voorhis (Anna), all of Greenfield, Ind., Jeff
Voorhis of Coatesville, Ind., and Bob Voorhis of Indianapolis, Ind.;
grandmother, Earlene Franks of Lynn; and five grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Lay, Jamie Collier, Joe Hamlett, Paul Brown and
Willie Willcutt.
