Bobby Gene Quinn, 73, of Jasper died Tuesday, July 7, 2009, at
Walker Baptist Medical Center in Jasper. Graveside services will be held at 10
a.m. today, July 9, at Liberty Grove Cemetery in Ashridge. Minister will be Bro.
Mark Ottis.
He is survived by his wife, Freda Quinn; daughters, Jayonn Hesse, Sara Southern,
Judi Farish and Alicia Quinn; sons, Tim Quinn and Bobby Quinn II; eight
grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Eugene E. Day, 88, of Huntsville
Eugene E. Day, 88, of Huntsville, formally of Jasper and a native
of Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2009. Mr. Day attended Berea College
in Berea, Ky.
He is survived by his son, Robert E. Day of Aiken, S.C.; daughter, Cheryl D.
Hoard and her husband, Robert, of Huntsville; sisters, Ruth Herbert and her
husband, George, of Austin, Texas, and Ima Littrell of Winchester, Ky.;
grandchildren, Brad Day and his wife, Noel, of Dewitt, Mich., Brian Day and his
wife, Rebecca, of Knoxville, Tenn., and Jill Wall and her husband, Jay, of
Seymour, Tenn.; three great-grandchildren, Sara Beth, Abby and Lucy Day, all of
Knoxville, Tenn.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy Day; and daughter-in-law, Peggy Day.
Visitation will be Friday, July 10, 2009, from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Twickenham
Funeral Home South in Huntsville. Funeral services will be Saturday, July 11, at
11 a.m. at the Hope Presbyterian Church at 10001 Bailey Cove Road SE in
Huntsville. Dr. Sam Hobson officiating. Graveside service will be Monday, July
13, at 10:30 a.m. (Eastern Time) at Day Hill Cemetery in West Liberty, Ky.

Flora Cain Sherer, 93, of Jasper went to be with the Lord
Tuesday, July 7, 2009, at Walker Baptist Medical Center.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, July 10, at Samaria Baptist Church
with burial in Walker Memory Gardens. Phillip Drake will officiate.
Kilgore-Green Funeral Home in Jasper will direct.
Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 1
until 2 p.m. Friday at the church.
Mrs. Sherer was born on Sept. 7, 1915, and her life was a beautiful example of a
Godly woman who was a great “prayer warrior.” Mrs. Sherer was a Sunday School
teacher for over 50 years and a faithful church member. She retired from Auburn
University Extension Service in 1981.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, John H. Sherer; parents, Grady
and Pearl Cain; sister, Clara Sherer; and brothers, Dewey Barney Cain.
She is survived by her daughter, Betty Sherer of Jasper; brother, Charles Cain
of Jasper; and several nieces, nephews, friends and her loving church family.

Jackie Wilbert, 60, of Jasper died Wednesday, July 8, 2009, at

James E. Creel, 79, of Birmingham passed away Monday, July 7,
2009, in Marietta, Ga. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 11, in the
chapel of Crestview Memorial Funeral Home in Adamsville with Tommy Alford
officiating. Interment will follow in Quintown Church of Christ Cemetery in
Quintown.
Mr. Creel was retired from Jefferson County General Services. He was a member of
the Church of Christ and was a veteran of the United States Army.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Evans Creel of Birmingham; children, Nancy
Wright of Marietta, Ga., James E. Creel Jr. of Florence, Miss., and Timothy

Richard E. Hyche, 87, of Cordova went to be with the Lord, July
7, 2009, at UAB Medical Center. He was born Oct. 26, 1921, in Walker County.

from 10 until 11 a.m. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. in Collins-Burke
Chapel with burial at the Old Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Cordova. The Rev. Dale

He was preceded in death by his father, Fred Freeman Hyche; mother, Bertie
Tuggle Hyche; first wife, Alma Stephenson Hyche; second wife, Geneva Rutledge

Sarah Patmon, 86, of Sispey died Saturday, July 4, 2009, at

Birdsey (aka “Bondo Bill” and “The Wrecker Man”), 63, of Jasper
William Melvin Birdsey (aka “Bondo Bill” and “The
Wrecker Man”), 63, of Jasper passed away quietly in his sleep
Thursday, July 7, 2009, with his wife by his side at the
Birmingham V.A. Hospital.
Mr. Birdsey received a Purple Heart for being wounded in action
in Vietnam. He was a veteran who never lost his pride in serving
his country.
Mr. Birdsey was known by many things. He owned and operated
“Bill’s Wrecker Service” for many years. Many people knew him
just as the man who drove around town with his little
21-year-old black poodle, “Punkin,” in his truck. He loved
fishing, hunting, racing and meeting people, especially through
his wrecker service.
He was preceded in death by his father, Claude Birdsey; mother,
Alice Harmon; and special friend, Steve Kilgore.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Birdsey; son, David Birdsey;
daughter, Myrna Birdsey of Concrete, Wash.; daughter, Sarah Long
(married to Wesley Long) of Jasper; son, Patrick Birdsey
(married to Shanda Birdsey) of Cordova; grandchildren, Rocky
Birdsey, Joseph Long and Jordan Long; three great-grandchildren;
step-children, Eric Dutcher, Rhonda MacClain, Bryan Guidrey,
Jeremy Malone and Ranita Bowen; special friend, Billy Kilgore;
and numerous siblings, nieces, nephews and step-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, July 11, 2009, at 2
p.m. at Central Baptist Church at 900 S. Airport Road in Jasper
with Darryle Wilson officiating. Wilson Brothers Funeral Home in
