Ellis Q. Rutledge, 82, of Carbon
Hill
Ellis Q. Rutledge, 82, of Carbon Hill, died Sunday, July 12,
2009, at Walker Baptist Medical Center. Funeral services will be Wednesday, July
15, 2009, at 2 p.m. in Collins-Burke Chapel with burial in Carbon Hill Memory
Gardens. The Rev. Richard Handley will officiate. Collins-Burke Funeral Home
will direct. Visitation will be today, July 14, from 6 until 8 p.m. at the
funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his father, Cody Rutledge; mother, Alma Rutledge;
and son, Gerald David Rutledge; brothers, Howard Rutledge and A.C. Rutledge; and
sisters, Hazel Hendon, Elizabeth Hinds and Ruth Sawyer.
Survivors include his wife, Thelma L. Rutledge; sons, Stephen Ellis Rutledge and
Mark Rutledge; step-sons, Oliver Dodd Jr. and Ken W. Dodd; daughter, Cherri
Rutledge; sisters, Dolly Long, Eunice Rutledge, Shelby Heathcock, Alvie Mae
Cook, Johnnie Files and Mable Kilgo; eight grandchildren; and four
great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be members of the American Legion Post 101 of Carbon Hill.
H.D. Barnett
Funeral services for H.D. Barnett will be held
today, July 14, 2009, at 12:30 p.m. in Cashner Colonial Chapel.
The Rev. John Singleton will officiate.
H.D. was born, May 23, 1925, in Jasper and passed away, July 11,
2009, in Conroe, Texas. He was a longtime resident of River
Plantation in Conroe, Texas. He retired from Armco Steel in 1977
after 37 years and then had another successful career as a real
estate appraiser, and was a longtime member of the Masons.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 58 years,
Christine M. Barnett.
He is survived by his sons, Steven Barnett and his wife, Donna,
and Glenn Barnett and his wife, Jane; grandsons, Trevor Barnett
and his wife, Amber; Blake Barnett and Daniel Paul Barnett and
his wife, Sarah; great-grandchild Adalae Barnett;
sister-in-laws, Frances Barnett, Virginia Cockrell and Jane
Turner, PhD; nieces, Patty Barnett, Jennifer Cockrell, Stacy
Cockrell and Billie Flora; and nephew, Jim Barnett and his wife,
Tracey.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions
be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 15186,
Austin, Texas 78761 or the Salvation Army, P.O. Box 36607,
Dallas, TX 75235.
