Kenneth Nelson Thomas, 43
Kenneth Nelson Thomas, 43, went home to be with the Lord on
Friday, July 10, 2009. A life celebration will be held Saturday, July 18, at 2
p.m. at Lakeview Personal Fitness in Birmingham.
He was a talented artist and gifted computer specialist as well as beloved
brother, uncle and friend.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Thomas; mother, Corine Thomas;
sister, JoAnn; and brother, Huey.
He is survived by a special niece, Windy Williams; sister, Brenda Williams;
brother, Bob Thomas; a host of nieces, nephews and friends; and his extended
family, Trey, Jean and Quade Beasley.

Larry Wayne Carmichael, 64, of Oakman, died Monday, July 13, 2009
at the VA Hospital in Tuscaloosa. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday,
July 17, at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home with burial at Tubbs Church of Christ
Cemetery. Levi Sides will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m.
Thursday, July 16, at the funeral home. Kilgore-Green Funeral Home will direct.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wake and Eulean Carmichael.
He is survived by his daughter, Natalie Breeden and her husband, Brad, of
Memphis, Tenn.; granddaughter, Dakota Breeden of Memphis, Tenn.; sister, Donna
C. Barnett and her husband, Carl, of Oakman; and former wife and friend, Diane
Carmichael.

Maggie "Ellen" Levan Parrish began her celebration of eternal
life in heaven after leaving her earthly residence on July 13, 2009.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday July 17, 2009 at New Horizon Memorial
Funeral Home with burial at New Canaan Cemetery in Empire. The Rev. Joe
Holdbrooks and the Rev. Wayne Ferguson will officiate. Visitation will be from 6
until 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. New Horizon Memorial Funeral Home
will direct.
She was born on Dec. 11, 1922, and was a lifelong resident of Empire. She was a
homemaker, a loving and devoted wife, mother and granny. She was a member of
Burnwell Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, George Dewey Parrish; son,
Rickey Parrish; granddaughter, Lisa Hendrix; daughter-in-law, Pat Parrish;
parents, J.B. and Molly Levan; sister, Helen Levan and brothers, Link, Charlie,
Mack, Cecil, Paul, Ed, Robert and Fred Levan.
Survivors include her son, Ray Parrish; daughters, Diane (Jerry) Phillips,
Denise (Don) Henderson and Rhonda (Jughead) Allen; 13 grandchildren; 18
great-grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; several other family members
and a host of friends.

Townley
R.M. Edgil, 89, of Townley, died at his residence
Monday, July 13, 2009. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m.
Thursday, July 16, at Collins-Burke Funeral Home with burial to
follow at Walker Memory Gardens. His sons, Jerry Edgil and
Ronald Edgil, will officiate. Visitation will be from 1 until 3
p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Collins-Burke Funeral Home
will direct.
He was born on July 29, 1919, in Townley. He served in the
Civilian Conservation Corps in the Pocono Mountains of
Pennsylvania in 1935. He was ordained as a deacon at Townley
Free Will Baptist Church in 1955 and served faithfully there
until his death. For most of those 54 years, he also served as
song director there. His greatest loves were his Lord and
Savior, his church and his family. He was an avid hunter,
fisherman and farmer. He was a contractor and built many homes
in the area. He was the owner of R.M. Edgil Septic Tank Co.
until his retirement and after that used his equipment to dig
numerous graves in surrounding communities.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Burvill and Lillian
Tittle Edgil; sister, Arvarene Edgil Townley; brothers, Henry
Ellis Edgil and K.D. Edgil.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Willodean Timmons Edgil;
sons Jerry Wayne (Carol Cunningham) Edgil of Florence and Robert
Ronald (Shan Prescott) Edgil of Town Creek; daughter, Linda
(Charles) Draper of Townley; seven grandchildren, Kim (Marty)
Jones, Ronda Williams, Bobby (Stacy) Edgil, Mark Edgil, Mary
Katherine (Marty) Hargett, David Draper, Robin (Shane) Blaylock;
and 11 great-grandchildren, Lindsey (John) Ashley, Branden
Bernal, Bailee, Reagan and John Mark Curbow, Chappell and Jack
Edgil, Austin Draper, Eli Edgil, Jack Parker and Ella Kate
Blaylock and special caregivers for the past 11 months, Joan
Hall and Pat Peeler.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Edgil, Mark Edgil, David Draper, David
Edgil, Kelvie Edgil, Joe Timmons and Charles Draper.

Sybil Dannette Hall, 59, of Quinton, died Saturday, July 11,
2009, at her residence. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday,
July 16, at Pumpkin Center Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10
a.m. until noon Thursday at the funeral home. Collins-Burke Funeral Home will
direct.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Helen Hall.
She is survived by her father, William G. Hall; sisters, Lorna Bush and Janice
Munson; and brothers, William G. Hall Jr., Dennis Frederick Hall and John J.
Hall III.
