2009 at her residence. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday,

Deacon Nathaniel McElrath, 78 of Jasper made his Earthly
transition to the open arms of his Heavenly Father on Saturday, July 18, 2009 at
UAB Hospital in Birmingham. Deacon McElrath was a dedicated member of 26th
Street Baptist Church. Complete arrangements to be announced at a later date.

Moulton
Hazel Inez Redmill Baughn, 85, of Moulton, formerly of Jasper,
died on Friday, July 17, 2009 at her residence. Funeral services will be held
Monday, July 20 at 11 a.m. in the Kilgore-Green Chapel. Visitation will be held
on Monday, July 20 from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Kilgore-Green Chapel, with
burial at New Prospect Cemetery. Rev. Mark Wakefield will officiate.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Bell and Myrtle Redmill; husband, Ottis
L. Baughn; brother, Howard Redmill; sisters, Pearlie Kilgore and Christine
Redmill; son-in-laws, Dean Parris and Jimmy Hare; graddaughter, Kristi King; and
great-granddaughter, Kayla Gant.
She is survived by her daughters, Kathryn Grant (J.C.) of Enterprise, Wanda
Dyess (Gerone) of Moulton, and Venita Carmichael (Eddie) of Shelbyville, TN.;
son, J.R. Baughn (Lynda) of Jasper; brothers, James Redmill (Geneva), Clayton
Redmill (Loree), and Edward Redmill (Geraldine); sister, Louise Hamilton; seven
grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; four
step-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and
nephews
Pall bearers will be her grandsons and grandson-in-laws.

Hubert Sherman Pike, 70, of Harrison TN., died Friday, July 17,
2009. A native of Townley, he had been a Harrison resident for 50 years. The
funeral will be at 2 p.m. CDT, Sunday, July 19 at Townley Church of God, with
the Rev. John Taggert officiating. The body will lie in state at the church for
two hours before the service. Internment will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery
in Townley.
He is survived by a son, Lee Pike of Jasper; daughter, Tammy Gail Salas of
Chattanooga, TN.; three brothers, J.W. Pike of Carbon Hill, Horace Pike of
Harrison, TN., and F.M. Pike of Jasper; three sisters, Mary Glenn of Bessemer,
Ila B. Willis of Pendleton, OR., and Jean Hall of Dora; and three grandchildren.

Jean Elizabeth Powell, 82, of Jasper, died Thursday, July 16,
2009, at UAB Medical Center in Birmingham. Funeral services will be Sunday, July
19, at 2 p.m. in Collins-Burke Chapel with burial in Walker Memory Gardens.

She was preceded in death by her father, Hugh M. Abel; mother, Velma L. Abel;

She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, John T. Powell Jr. of Jasper;
sisters, Laura Randolph of Lynn and Martha Jones (Dan) of Summerville, S.C.;
brothers, Lynn “Buddy” Abel (Marlene) of Cordova, Howard Abel (Violet) of
Northport, James T. Abel (Ann) of Jasper, and Fred Abel (Lura) of Cullman; and
many loving nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her son, Michael Jason Bailey.

Marlin J. Scott, 76, of Trenton, Mich., formerly of Walker
County, died on Sunday, April 12, 2009. Masonic services were held on Wednesday,
April 15, at 7 p.m. at the Martenson Family Funeral Home in Trenton.
Funeral services were held from the funeral home on Thursday, April 16, with
burial taking place in the Michigan Memorial Park Cemetery.
He was the beloved husband of Barbara Scott; loving brother of Gertrude Rowe and
Martha Tallant; grandfather of Michael and Steven; and great-grandfather to
Jacob and Justin.
