Barbara Joanne Mathes, 56, of
Jasper
Barbara Joanne Mathes, 56, of Jasper, died on Friday, July 17,
2009 at her resident. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday,
July 21 at Forestcrest Cemetery in Irondale. Kilgore-Green Funeral Home will
direct.
Hazel Inez Redmill Baughn, 85, of
Moulton
Hazel Inez Redmill Baughn, 85, of Moulton, formerly of Jasper,
died on Friday, July 17, 2009 at her residence. Funeral services will be held
Monday, July 20 at 11 a.m. in the Kilgore-Green Chapel. Visitation will be held
on Monday, July 20 from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Kilgore-Green Chapel, with
burial at New Prospect Cemetery. Rev. Mark Wakefield will officiate.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Bell and Myrtle Redmill; husband, Ottis
L. Baughn; brother, Howard Redmill; sisters, Pearlie Kilgore and Christine
Redmill; son-in-laws, Dean Parris and Jimmy Hare; graddaughter, Kristi King; and
great-granddaughter, Kayla Gant.
She is survived by her daughters, Kathryn Grant (J.C.) of Enterprise, Wanda
Dyess (Gerone) of Moulton, and Venita Carmichael (Eddie) of Shelbyville, TN.;
son, J.R. Baughn (Lynda) of Jasper; brothers, James Redmill (Geneva), Clayton
Redmill (Loree), and Edward Redmill (Geraldine); sister, Louise Hamilton; seven
grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; four
step-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and
nephews
Pall bearers will be her grandsons and grandson-in-laws.

Cordova
Janice Marie Deason, 54, of Cordova died on Thursday, July 16,
2009 at Walker Baptist Medical Center. Funeral services will be held Monday,
July 20, at 7 p.m. in Collins-Burke Chapel, Minister Gary Liles officiating.
Visitation will be held Monday, July 20, from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the funeral
home. Burial will be at Sardis Cemetery.
She is preceded in death by her son, Michael Jason Bailey.
She is survived by her husband, James Deason; mother, Bertha Jean Gurley;
father, Hoover Gurley; daughter, Misty Bailey; sisters, Carol Dianne Gurley,
Mary Denise Swindle, and Donna Kay Gurley; brother, Michael David Gurley;
grandparents, James and Carrie Head, John and Cernie Gurley; grandchildren,
Whitney Bailey, Nicholas Bailey, Erica Bailey, Cruz Mathis, Jordan Mathis, and
eight other grandchildren.

Courington, 82, of Jasper
Willie Ralph Courington, 82, of Jasper, died on
Saturday, July 18, 2009 at Ridgeway Health Care Center. Funeral
services will be at 3 p.m. on Monday, July 20, at Kilgore-Green
Chapel, with Minister Wilson Boyd officiating. Visitation will
be from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. on Monday at the chapel. Burial will
be at Walker Memory Gardens.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vester and Annie
Courington; sisters, Gay Roberts, Pernie Courington and Ester
Tucker; brothers, Lester Courington and Hughes Courington.
He is survived by his daughter, Wanda Jackson and husband Rodney
of Savannah, Tenn..; sons, Jim Courington and wife Lisa of
Jasper. Larry Courington of Jasper; grandchildren, Jason
Courington, Landon Courington and Seth Courington; brothers,
Bobby Courington, Jesse Courington and Travis Courington;
sisters, Erma Bevis and Flossie Courington; a special nephew,
David Courington; along with a host of nephews, nieces and
friends.
He served in the U.S. Army. He was a World War II Veteran and
was stationed in Okinawa, Japan during the war. The family
request that memorials be made to the Bethel Assembly of God,
located on Highway 5 in Jasper.
